Project Overview

In lieu of the Covid-19 situation, Singapore has gradually reopened its border for essential travel among countries with a low Covid-19 transmission rate. This creates uncertainty for travellers who are unsure of the risk of the location they are travelling to. Furthermore, a travel intent survey conducted by digital travel services provider YouTrip, revealed that 54% of Singaporean respondents would be happy to travel immediately once the pandemic is declared over and more borders are being reopened. To combat this uncertainty, we aim to build a web application — a one-stop platform whereby travellers can have access to updated information on Covid-19 transmission statistics based on their indicated choice of country and access whether it is safe to travel.

Objectives

1. Currently, many travellers are stopping their overseas adventures due to Covid-19 pandemic as they are unsure of the Covid-19 status in other countries.
2. Our web application will allow the user to search for a Country/City and display Covid-19 statistics — the number of confirmed cases, recovered patients, tests and death toll and also the weather status.
3. SafeTravers also provide travellers with direct access to the current date number of flights based on their specified departure location and destination.
4. The aim of SafeTravers is to help travellers analyse the current risk trends (i.e. 7-days statistics, 14-days statistics etc.) with the help of an interactive chart for travellers to make an informed decision on whether to defer their travel to a later date, based on the current risk index of the country.

Project Functionality

1. Country/City Covid-19 Statistics Report - Present daily summary of Covid-19 statistics based on user indicated Country or City.
2. Country Risk Index - Through this functionality, users can identify the risk index of the country they are intending to travel to. The risk index of countries will be in the range between 0 to 3, with 3 being the highest risk, making it the most dangerous location to travel to and 0 being the lowest risk, making it the safest location.
3. Tracking of Flight - To allow travellers to track the availability of flight details based on the country specified.
4. Weather Forecast - To display the current weather conditions of the country specified.
